We welcome the Vinaròs parties!
From the 21st to the 30th of June the local festivals of our neighbouring village are celebrated. To celebrate the arrival of summer, children and adults share the festivities and fun in the Festivities and Fair of San Juan and San Pedro, a popular festivals in which you can enjoy outdoor music, fireworks and a large fairground for the whole family.
Vinaròs, capital of the region, is a municipality of the Valencian Community located in the north of the province of Castellón, a few metres from our city.
A little bit of history…
The location of the city next to the Mediterranean Sea and the numerous cultures and civilizations that have inhabited these lands, have left their mark shaped in different aspects of their current life: in their traditions, their cuisine, their buildings and in their sea. All these are the keys that have made Vinaròs maintain its historical and cultural importance throughout the centuries.
“The origins of the municipality are uncertain. An important example of its past can be seen today in the Iberian village of El Puig de la Misericordia, where important vestiges of man’s passage during the 6th century BC have been found. However, its oldest written history dates back to 1233, when the Muslim farmhouse Beni-Al-Arús was conquered and Christianised by King James I. In 1241 the Town Charter was granted to Mr. Grinyó Ballester and fifty other settlers, Vinaròs was recognised as a town and ceased to belong to the castle of Peñíscola”.
