Peñíscola, one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in the Region of Valencia, is much more than its famous medieval castle. If there is one thing that makes visitors to this coastal town fall in love, it is undoubtedly its beaches. Golden sand, crystal-clear waters and an ideal climate for most of the year make Peñíscola a paradise for sea lovers.
From Tamarindos we invite you to discover the best beaches of Peñíscola and live a unique experience in front of the Mediterranean.
1. North Beach: the great protagonist of Peñíscola
More than 5 km long, the North Beach is undoubtedly the most famous beach in Peñíscola. It stretches from the foot of Papa Luna’s castle until it almost reaches Benicarló, offering a wide space of fine sand and calm waters, perfect for families with children.
- Services: it has a blue flag, lifeguards, showers, sun lounger hire, sports areas and accessibility.
- Unique views: from this beach you can enjoy the best views of the old town and the castle.
- Ideal location: Tamarindos is just a short walk from this beach, allowing you to come and go without worrying about the car or transport.
2. South Beach: quieter, just as charming
Situated on the other side of the isthmus from the historic centre, the South Beach is more secluded and less crowded than the North Beach.
Ideal for sunset strolls or to enjoy a sunny day with a bit more peace and quiet.
3. Cala del Moro: a hidden spot
If you are looking for a more intimate and wild experience, Cala del Moro is perfect for you. This small cove of rocks and sand is located about 3 km from the centre of Peñíscola and offers a very well-kept natural environment.
- Accessible on foot or by bike
- Ideal for snorkelling
- Highly recommended for those who want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle.
4. Playa de las Viudas: discreet
Less well known than the previous beaches, Playa de las Viudas is located near the fishing port. Its small size and the smaller number of bathers make it a very special place for those who prefer a more intimate atmosphere without being too far from the centre.
5. Playa del Pebret and Playa del Russo: a paradise in the Serra d’Irta
To the south of Peñíscola, within the Serra d’Irta Natural Park, there are two hidden gems: Playa del Pebret and Playa del Russo.
Accessible by following the road that crosses the park, these beaches are located near the old Carabinieri barracks, in an unspoilt environment of extraordinary beauty. They are the only fine sandy beaches in the natural park, surrounded by autochthonous vegetation and with clean, calm waters.
