Visiting Peñíscola in the winter months is a pleasure that few people know about.
Visiting the old town without crowds, enjoying the details, the views of the Mediterranean Sea and the wonderful weather we are enjoying lately.
It is no coincidence that Forbes magazine recommended the Costa Azahar a few days ago as a privileged place to retire in its publication entitled “The best places to retire abroad in 2020”, in its international online version.
In that article, The Orange Blossom Coast appears, along with the Costa del Sol and Bilbao, as the most recommended destinations for enjoying retirement.
The advantages include our excellent health system, public safety, tax treatment, air communications and our local cuisine based on the Mediterranean diet.
To locate the Costa de Azahar they mention its proximity to Barcelona. One of the factors they give more relevance to is our sunny weather and the low price compared to much of Europe.
Among the factors they value most is that “sunny Spain is cheaper than much of Europe”.
At Apartamentos Tamarindos we invite you to visit us during the winter month so that you can get to know a Peñíscola that is just as beautiful as it is in summer but without the crowds.
The tranquility is one of the main characteristics of the city at sea during the winter months. Walking, running or cycling along the promenade listening to the wonderful sound of the sea waves is ideal for disconnecting from stress.
In Tamarindos you will be able to relax and rest on the shores of the Mediterranean and enjoy our wonderful garden with an extensive green area and surrounded by palm trees. Do you feel like relaxing and enjoying the sunshine under a palm tree with your favourite book?
THE GOOD CLIMATE
In Peñíscola we are lucky enough to see the sun more than 300 days a year, our temperatures are warm in summer and quite mild in winter. This Christmas we have had highs that have exceeded 20ºC. These first weeks of the year have seen temperatures drop, but the sunshine softens the feeling of cold. And if you are one of the daring ones who likes to take a bath in the sea during the winter the temperature of the sea is about 15-17ºC.
In this climate you will enjoy walking on the beach, visiting the Castle and its alleys, hiking in the Sierra d’Irta or taking part in road cycling or mountain biking routes.
The gastronomy of Peñíscola and the surrounding area is rich in fish and seafood, fruit and vegetables as well as meat (lamb, beef or pork), nuts and olive oil.
Its privileged location on the shores of the Mediterranean, its warm climate and the fertility of its land make Peñíscola an ideal destination to enjoy the gastronomy of local products.
Seafood cuisine is the star, as fishing has been Peñíscola’s main economic driver for many years. Its traditional dishes include: “All y pebre”, “Suquet” fish or rice dishes in all their varieties (arròs a banda, arrosejat, arròs del senyoret or fideuà).
The star product of the city is the “caragol punxent”, a delight for our palate.
Also, the city has a very suitable land for the cultivation of artichokes, wild asparagus, onions, aubergines and beans among others with which to cook delicious dishes.
Finally, as a dessert you can’t leave without trying the typical sweets such as the “pastisset de carabassa” or the cottage cheese and almond cake “flaons”.
In Tamarindos you will be able to enjoy grilled food without any problem. You will not have any schedule or limitations to cook to your liking and without stress.
The barbecue area will give you the opportunity to enjoy cooking over wood with friends or family under the fig trees.
Our facilities have an extensive garden area where you can exercise outdoors without any problem.
You will be able to play with your family or friends without any worries.
